DCLM Higher Everyday 28 April 2025 — The Messiah Still Calls Men

DCLM Higher Everyday 28 April 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiThe Messiah Still Calls Men

Topic: The Messiah Still Calls Men

Text: Matthew 4:18-22

18And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

19And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

20And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

21And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

22And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

Key Verse: “And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:18-19).

Message

Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Anointed One; and because of His saving power He draws people to Himself to see and enjoy the light of life. Keith Provance says, “Who God calls, He equips. Who He equips, He anoints to do the job.” Do not ignore the call of the Messiah.

David Livingstone says: “God send me anywhere, only go with me. Lay any burden on me, only sustain me. And sever any tie in my heart except the tie that binds my heart to you.” When we consecrate our lives to God we will do His will without complaining. Paul admonished his co-workers to follow him in the same way he was following Christ. As a Christian youth, begin to follow Christ now. “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them” (Ecclesiastes 12:1). Do not delay your decision to follow Christ because tomorrow may be too late. Heed the call to salvation, consecration or service.

Quote: Do not ignore the call

Challenge: Begin to do God’s will without complaining.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to follow You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
