DCLM Higher Everyday 14 March 2026 — The Mystery Of Suffering
DCLM Higher Everyday 14 March 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Mystery Of Suffering
Topic: The Mystery Of Suffering
Text: Romans 8:16-22
16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
Key Verse: “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18).
Message
All Christians have been purchased with the blood of the Lamb. This qualifies them as heirs of the Kingdom of God and joint-heirs with Christ. What a privilege! What a future! What a glory that awaits us! However, the saints still go through pains and suffering on earth. “The fact of suffering undoubtedly constitutes the single greatest challenge to the Christian faith,” said John Scott. At school, believers sometimes face peer pressure, intense persecution, and even hardships. Yet, keep focus on our studies because a brighter future awaits the diligent. The hope of success keeps us determined to work hard and pursue our dreams.

In the same way, the Bible tells us of the glory awaiting us in heaven which exceedingly outweighs any form of suffering, temptations, persecutions, pains, and discouragements we may be facing here on earth because of our faith. We are encouraged to look unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cruel cross, thereby accomplishing the work of redemption for humanity.
Quote: What a glory that awaits us!
Challenge: Count it a privilege to suffer for Christ.
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, give me the grace to endure till the end.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
