DCLM Higher Everyday 21 August 2024 — The Power In His Blood
DCLM Higher Everyday 21 August 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Power In His Blood
Topic: The Power In His Blood
Text: 1 John 1:1-10
1That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
3That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Key Verse: “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).
Message
John Wycliffe said that, “There must be atonement made for sin according to the righteousness of God. The person to make this atonement must be God and man.” Jesus Christ is the only one who fulfilled the condition of making atonement for the sinful man. Jesus is God incarnate who came into the world as a human being and also as God. The angels lacked the necessary qualities to stand before God to plead on behalf of lost souls. The precious blood of Jesus was spilled to wash every sinner and make him or her clean before God.
Those who want to be saved must come under the cleansing power of the blood of the Lamb of God. They must wholly trust in Christ’s sacrifice and beware of seeking to be justified by any other means. Salvation through His blood is obtainable by faith in our Lord. Youths who are still going about looking for how to be saved, need not to search further as Christ’s blood, the only means of atonement is still available to cleanse from all unrighteousness.
Quote: Atonement is still available
Challenge: Salvation is only in Christ’s atonement.
Prayer for today: Holy Father, grant me salvation through Christ’s atonement.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
