DCLM Sincere Milk 23 August 2024 — The Power of Dreams
DCLM Sincere Milk 23 August 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Power of Dreams
Topic: The Power of Dreams
Text: Genesis 37:1-11
1And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
3Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
4And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
5And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
6And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
7For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
8And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
9And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
10And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?
11And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.
Key Verse: “And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.” Genesis 37:5
Message
Dreams are series of visions or revelations we receive while sleeping. Most dreams come from God especially to His own children. In the Old Testament, God often spoke to His chosen servants to give them important information. Today, God still speaks to His children through dreams but more often through His word. From our Bible passage, we learnt that Joseph had two dreams and told them to his brethren and they hated him. Though their hatred made them to sell him to Egypt as a slave in a strange land, his dreams still came to pass. He became the Prime Minister of Egypt. Your dreams shall come to pass.

There is power in dreams, and as long as you are a friend of Jesus, the promise of God in your life will be fulfilled. For your dreams to be fulfilled you must desire it in prayer so that God will do what has been shown in the dreams. However, you must not elevate the power of dreams above the word of God. Everything that youneed to make you successful in life is in the Bible. Make it your best companion, read it, meditate on it and obey its commandments.

Prayer for today: Lord bring every one of my good dreams, to pass so that Your Name will be glorified.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
