10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Key Verse: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12).
Message
The value of every soul created by God cannot be measured or quantified with any human or material resources. Hence, God made a clarion call more than 2000 years ago – a call to salvage humanity from permanent eternal damnation to eternal peaceful rest. Our text reveals the opportunity God gives to mankind, including children and teenagers, to confer on them the power of sonship and membership of His kingdom which grants all the privilege to enjoy divine blessings. Remember, God was ready to kill the first born of Pharaoh if he refused to let Israel go free out of Egypt (Exodus 4:22-23). God has stretched out His hands to receive sinners and backslidders who are willing to accept His offer of sonship through genuine repentance. Becoming God’s son gives you protection, provision and other privileges.
Therefore, to receive the power of sonship of God, you must turn away from your sin. The condition for remaining a son in the kingdom and spending eternity with the Father is to daily live a life dedicated to God and His will.
Quote: Live a life dedicated to God
Challenge: Dare to be a child of God.
Prayer for today: Oh God, I receive Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Amen.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
