DCLM Higher Everyday 6 August 2024 — The Saviour Knows The Saints
DCLM Higher Everyday 6 August 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Saviour Knows The Saints
Topic: The Saviour Knows The Saints
Text: 2 Timothy 2:19-26
19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
22Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Key Verse: “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity” (2 Timothy 2:19).
Message
Jesus Christ who is the Saviour of the world said,“I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.” Saints refer to people who know Christ experientially as their Lord and Saviour. Saints are therefore, sheep while Christ is their Shephard. From our text, Christ reveals that He Knows them that are His. God the Father is omniscient and so also is Christ. He knows all things. Christ knows you: your name, your work, your personality, your heart, and everything about you. His eyes are sharp and blazing. Therefore, there is no hiding place from Christ.
Friend, if you are a saint, the Saviour watches over you to protect you, to deliver and help you in all your ways. Depend on Him. He was with John in the isle of Patmos and promised the disciples, “…I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” As a saint, keep yourself pure, and avoid all evil associations. You can forsake your sins and accept Jesus now if you are yet to be a saint.
Quote: The Saviour watches over you
Challenge: Hypocrites cannot hide from Christ.
Prayer for today: Help me Lord, to be a saint indeed. Amen!
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
