TOPIC: THE SERVANT SAMUEL
TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 2:18-20
18But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.
19Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
20And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went unto their own home.
MEMORY VERSE: “But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod” (1 SAMUEL 2:18).
MESSAGE:
Samuel was a product of prayer. His life was consecrated as a gift to God by his mother even before his birth. He grew up like a lily in the mire. He had no godly examples to emulate in the house of Prophet Eli where he grew up.
The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were described as sons of Belial. These were supposedly the companions of Samuel. Notwithstanding, the life of Samuel was exceptional. This worthy life made him to start his ministry from childhood as he “…ministered before the LORD, being a child…”

No matter the corruption in your environment, you can also decide to live for the glory of God and escape the corruption that is in the world. Only saved and sanctified youths can become useful instruments in the hand of God.
God is looking for changed youths to change the world. You will become a mighty instrument in the hand of God as you set your life apart and become one of the servants of God like Samuel. Make your life count for God.
QUOTE: A mighty instrument in the hand of God.
CHALLENGE: Decide to live right no matter what others do.
PRAYER: Father, help me to keep away from defilement
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
