Topic: The Tongue In Your Mouth

Text: Micah 6:11-13

11Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights?

12For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

13Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.

Key Verse: “For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.” Micah 6:12

Message

Can you feel the tongue in your mouth? Have you paused and taken time to listen to every word that it speaks? Are you in control of what it says and what it eats Does it speak truthful and honest word? Or does it speak lying and deceitful word? What your tongue says will either bring God’s blessing or punishment on you. Our Bible passage condemned both the rich and the poor, children and adults in Israel. Where people are violent, lying and being deceitful, God is not happy and therefore pronounces judgment on them. Serious punishment was pronounced on the inhabitants of Israel for the wickedness of the tongues in their mouths.

What do you tell others; truth or lies? Do not allow fear of punishment or love of the praise from people make you tell lies. You may receive the temporary reward for deceit and lying, but remember all liars will burn in the lake that burns with brimstone and fire. (Revelation 21:8) Consecrate your tongue to God and He will cleanse it that you will always love to speak the truth.

Prayer for today: Lord, I submit my tongue to You. Help me to speak only truthful and comforting words.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
