Text: Joshua 6:15-21
16And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.
17And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
18And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.
19But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.
20So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
21And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

Message
The story of the wall of Jericho falling down, strongly demonstrates the miraculous power of God. God is always doing wonders in the lives of His people. The famous wall of Jericho was standing in the way of the people of God (the Israelites) from moving forward to possess the promised land. God made the point that the city would not fall by the hands and weapons of the Israelites, but by His intervention alone. The Israelites only needed to obey Him, and when they did, the victory was given to them.
The wall of Jericho represents the obstacles on the ways of believers that keep them out of God’s will. The first and greatest obstacle to deal with is sin. Many blessings are available to be experienced in the “promised land” of the Christian life – but Satan puts up his strong-walled “Jerichos” to keep us out of that promised land. These obstacles could be academic challenges, poverty in the home or sickness. Any test you face is to make you stronger. Do not give in to obstacles, rather press forward and trust God to get you through. Every Jericho wall in your life will fall flat..

Prayer for today: O God, help me to overcome all Jericho walls that want to hinder me from getting to the Promised Land.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
