DCLM Higher Everyday 3 July 2024 — The Whole Armour of God – 1
DCLM Higher Everyday 3 July 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Whole Armour of God – 1
Topic: The Whole Armour of God – 1
Text: Ephesians 6:10-14
10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Key Verse: “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6: 11).
Message
The Christian life is a war against sin and Satan. There are battles that are raging over your life, family and faith in Christ. The Bible tells us that we are in a war against Satan, who seeks to destroy us through temptations to sin. Therefore, we must take action and put on God’s whole armor. The armor of God represents our defensive and offensive weapons for constant victory.
As a Christian youth, it is important for you to understand the severity of this war. We are commanded, from our text, to stand firm, be strong, and put on the whole armor of God. The first relates to our position in the battle, the second our disposition, and the third our weapons. Please take note that our weapons are not physical in terms of human wisdom, techniques or arms (2 Corinthians 10:4). You can only resist Satan when you have surrendered your life to Christ, then stand for the truth, speak the truth, live a righteous life, and pray always. Stand against the devil’s schemes anytime and anywhere you find yourself and victory will be yours.
Quote: We are in a war
Challenge: Put on God’s whole armour at all times.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to be vigilant in my daily battles.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
