DCLM Sincere Milk 6 September 2024 — The Zeal of The Lord
DCLM Sincere Milk 6 September 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Zeal of The Lord
Topic: The Zeal of The Lord
Text: 2Kings 19:30-34
30And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.
32Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
33By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.
34For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
Key Verse: “For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.” 2 Kings 19:31
Message
Zeal means a form of commitment to something. It is showing seriousness to the work or assignment you are given. To be zealous for God is to be committed to the work of the Lord and doing it with the whole of your mind.
According to our Bible passage we see the promise God had and the zeal He put up to bless His people. He promised to defend Israel and their city for the sake of his servant David. The question is, Can God be zealous for you? Can He defend you like He did to the children of Israel? That can only be possible if you are a friend of Jesus.

You must also show commitment to the work of the Lord by making yourself available for weekly fellowship, sweeping and cleaning the church premises, evangelism, visitation and observance of daily quiet time. As you do all these, you will be blessed. Therefore, surrender your life to Him today and let God begin to defend you.

Prayer for today: I pray that the zeal of the Lord will defend and preserve me from all evil.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
