Text: Psalms 40:5-8
5Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
7Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
8I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

Message
Many of us do not spare a moment to think about God’s many kindnesses toward them. They never take time to show appreciation for the blessings of God upon their lives. The Psalmist, in our Bible passage, is thankful to God, and appreciates the fact that what the Lord desires in return for His goodness is not mere animal sacrifice, but to do His will and keep His law in our hearts. Whatever kindness we show to others starts with our good thoughts towards them.

It is not possible to do good to people you don’t think about. God is kind to us because He thinks about us and is concerned about our welfare. This gives us hope that our kind Lord, Who is thinking about us always, will continue to protect, provide, help and deliver us from all evils. Though He requires no animal sacrifice, yet He wants you to live righteously in obedience and thankfulness to Him daily. This is the only way to ensure that His wonderful works will continue in your life.

Prayer for today: Lord, teach me to be thankful to You for all Your kindnesses to me.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
