DCLM Higher Everyday 17 April 2024 — Thy will be done
DCLM Sincere Milk 17 April 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Thy will be done
Topic: Thy will be done
Text: Matthew 26:40-46
40And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
42He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
43And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
44And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
45Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
Key Verse: “… O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.” Matthew 26:42b
Message
The will of God is the best thing anyone can do. It is the only way to please God and fulfil His eternal purposes. There is no mistake or regret in doing God’s will. There are joy and peace in the heart of anyone who is doing the will of God. Though one may suffer shame, pain and even death, yet doing the will of God brings both present and heavenly rewards.

Like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego the fire of Nebuchadnezzar cannot frighten those who are doing the will of God. Like Daniel, the lions’ den does not scare someone who wants to please God. For our Lord Jesus Christ neither the pains of the cross nor the fears of the grave could cause Him to reject the will of God. You must first know the will of God concerning your life and then make up your mind to do it. The will of God is that you should be saved from sin, honour Jesus wherever you go, preach to those around you and prepare to meet your Lord when He comes. Do God’s will and He will bless you.

Prayer for today: I promise to do Your will always, so help me Lord.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
