Message
There is a story of a girl, in the South Western part of Nigeria, who was the only child of her parents. Being the only child, she was over-pampered by her parents in her upbringing. Over the years, she grew so wild and began to challenge her parents whenever they gave her instructions. Things got so bad that she started beating up her mother whenever she was corrected. Eventually, she was locked up in the prison by her father to curtail her excesses but alas, it was too late.

Our parents are God’s instrument of guidance for our best interest, and we should recognize that fact as youths. Their instructions and counsels are for our overall benefits. The Bible commands children to obey their parents; and numerous blessings are attached to doing so – long life, prosperity, and good success. If your case is like that of that girl, it is not late for you. All you need to do now is to repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ into your life. Then start honouring and obeying your parents. Happy Children’s Day!
Quote: Parents are God’s instrument of guidance
Challenge: Honour and obey your parents.
Prayer for today: Lord, empower me to obey my parents always.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
