DCLM Sincere Milk 16 October 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Tip of The Iceberg
Topic: Tip of The Iceberg
Text: Proverbs 10:3-6
3The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
4He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
5He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
6Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Key Verse: “He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.” Proverbs 10:4
Message
The tip of the iceberg is on idiomatic expression. An iceberg is a large piece of ice that gets broken off from ice shelf (glaciers) and floats in open water. Only the tip of the iceberg (a small portion) which is about one eight of its actual size is seen above the water surface. The major part is hidden beneath the surface. Without the lower (hidden) part, there cannot be the upper part which is seen.

Success in examinations and in life is like the tip of an iceberg that is seen and loved. Just like the bigger part of the iceberg under the water is not seen, what makes the success possible is the discipline, persistence, hard work, without these things, success would not have been possible.
Many children desire success but only few are willing to do what it takes to succeed. Success has been provided for every child of God. Avoid distraction when you are being taught in the class, do not dislike any subject or teacher, do your assignment, ask questions from your teachers when necessary and claim God’s promises for your success. You will succeed in Jesus Name.

Prayer for today: Dear God, help me to be diligent, hardworking and put my trust in You.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
