DCLM Sincere Milk 12 May 2024 — To My Mom
DCLM Sincere Milk 12 May 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — To My Mom
Topic: To My Mom
Text: Ephesians 6:1-4
1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Key Verse: “Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)” Ephesians 6:2
Message
Your hands held me gently from the day I took my first breath. Your hands helped to guide me as I took my first step. Your hands held me close when the tears would start to fall. Your hands were quick to show me that she would take care of it all. Your hands were there to brush my hair, or straighten a wayward bow. Your hands were often there to comfort the hurts that didn’t always show. Your hands would also push me, though not down or in harm’s way. Your hands would punctuate the words, just do what I say. Your hands sometimes had to discipline, to help bend this young tree. Your hands would shape and mould me into all she knew I could be. Your hands are now twisting with age and year of work. Your hand now needs my gentle touch to rub away the hurt. Your hands are more beautiful than anything can be. Your hands are the reason I am me.

Prayer for today: Lord, bless my mother and keep her safe from all harm.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
