DCLM Sincere Milk 11 September 2024 — True Joy

DCLM Sincere Milk  11 September 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiTrue Joy

Topic: True Joy

Text: John 15:11-14

11These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Key Verse: “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” John 15:11

Message

The story of young Joseph was an interesting one. His brothers who should have loved him hated him, sold him as a slave and denied him access to his loving father. All these “bad” things should have made him become unhappy and agree to do evil that Potiphar’s wife suggested. His attention was not on the suffering and what others did to him.

True joy is only found in Jesus. There is no other thing that can satisfy our longing soul and give joy now and in eternity but Jesus. Toys, praises, success, promotion and opportunities would not. Although these things are good, they do not last. Anyone who seeks them and rejects righteousness would at best have happiness which is just for a short time but eventually end in hell like the foolish rich man in the Bible. True joy comes when you receive Jesus as Saviour and Lord and make Him the source of your joy. People whose attention is on themselves, what people say about them and on other people never have true joy.

Prayer for today: Dear Father, help me to daily desire and make Jesus the source of my Joy.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
