DCLM Sincere Milk 22 October 2022 — Trusting and resting on God’s word
DCLM Sincere Milk 22 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Trusting and resting on God’s word
TOPIC: TRUSTING AND RESTING ON GOD’S WORD
TEXT: JOHN 4:49-53
49The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
Key Verse: “Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way” (JOHN 4:50).
MESSAGE:
The word of God carries power and authority. When you hear that God’s word is infallible, it means it is faultless, reliable, dependable, sure and unfailing.
The noble man in the passage travelled from a far place to seek Jesus’ help so that his son can be healed. He expected Jesus to follow him to confront the problem, but Jesus, with authority, told the man to go back, trusting and leaning on the spoken word of Jesus. On getting home, he discovered that the boy was healed!

Jerry attended a crusade organized by a Bible believing church. He was bothered that his father was not getting better from his sickness despite spending a lot of money on medical treatment.
Jerry presented the case to God through prayers at the crusade, and trusted that God would heal his father. The man of God mentioned his father’s problem and prayed for him. Jerry believed, and when he got home, he discovered that his father was healed. Praise the Lord!
What are you passing through in life? Look unto Jesus, trust and rest on the promises of God, and pray. God will definitely make a way for you. It is well with your soul.
Prayer: Oh God, help me to rest on Your word in times of need and trouble.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
