DCLM Higher Everyday 28 March 2024 — Turn The Situation Over To God
Topic: Turn The Situation Over To God
Text: 2 Kings 20:1-6
1In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
2Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,
3I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
4And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
5Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
6And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
Key Verse: “I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore” (2 Kings 20: 3).
Message
Many conditions in life cause sadness and sorrow. At such times one may be confused or even feel devastated. Such conditions may be failure, lack, bereavement, rejection, loneliness or terminal illness, as was the case of Hezekiah in our study today. However, “Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal,” said Thomas Moore. When Isaac lost his mother, Sarah, he must have been heartbroken. However, he and his father, Abraham turned the situation over to God and God provided a wife for Isaac at the age of about thirty years.
The Bible states that he loved her, “and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death” (Genesis 24:67). No matter the situation in your life, turn it over to God. You cannot cope alone, yet worrying and thinking will not solve your problems. Dear friend, are you or a loved one sick and the medical bills are piling up? Or are you having problem paying your school fees? Do not fret. Rather, turn that situation over to Jesus, for He cares and has power to save. Read Matthew 8: 23- 27.
Quote: Do not fret
Challenge: He knows about all the bad situations in your life.
Prayer for today: Oh God, turn my bad situation around, in Jesus name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
