DCLM Daily Manna 4 January 2025 — Turn Your Burdens To Jesus

DCLM Daily Manna 4 January 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Turn Your Burdens To Jesus

TOPIC: Turn Your Burdens To Jesus (DCLM Daily Manna 4 January 2025)

KEY VERSE: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

TEXT: Matthew 11:25-30 (KJV)

25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

The pursuit of happiness, satisfaction, and success is the defining fact of life for many people. But all human efforts to achieve life’s goals soon fizzle out, leaving a depressing feeling of emptiness in the hearts of such individuals. In this condition, many people, leaning on their worldly wisdom and knowledge, begin to question and eventually give up on the true essence of living—only a few turn to the right source that will bring meaning and wholeness to their lives.

Jesus had been appalled by the deep-seated unbelief He found in the people of Bethsaida, Chorazin, and Capernaum. They had seen Him preach, teach and perform some of the most spectacular miracles of His ministry. But they refused to repent of their sins, accept His message, or believe His works. Rather than becoming discouraged at their attitude, Jesus was thankful to God for hiding the truth of the kingdom from those arrogant and worldly-wise people while exposing it to the babes who humbly and openly received the truth that was handed to Him by the Father. After all, Christ alone knows the Father, and He only can give the revelation of God to those who come to Him. Jesus then invited all such people labouring under the heavy weight of sin to come to Him for pardon. He encouraged them to accept His yoke, learn the virtues of meekness and humility from Him, and find rest and refuge in Him.

We should not be like those who witnessed Christ’s works but remained adamant in their sins. There is no wisdom going through life with the burdens of guilt and shame for past and present sinful practices when Jesus has come to take them away and reconcile men with God. True wisdom is not to continue in your sin but to approach Jesus with childlike faith, confess and forsake all sins, and accept His offer of salvation and cleansing in His blood. Never allow the chance to be free from sin to pass you by. Instead, you should humbly follow Christ and rest confidently in your relationship with God.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The burden of sin is so heavy that it takes only Jesus to lift it from you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
