Topic: Use Your Youthful Strength For God

Text: 1 Kings 20:11-20

11And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that putteth it off.

12And it came to pass, when Benhadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants, Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city.

13And, behold, there came a prophet unto Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

14And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, Thou.

15Then he numbered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty two: and after them he numbered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.

16And they went out at noon. But Benhadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings that helped him.

17And the young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Benhadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.

18And he said, Whether they be come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they be come out for war, take them alive.

19So these young men of the princes of the provinces came out of the city, and the army which followed them.

20And they slew every one his man: and the Syrians fled; and Israel pursued them: and Benhadad the king of Syria escaped on an horse with the horsemen.

Key Verse: “And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, Thou.” 1 Kings 20:14

Message

No nation can develop without the strength of its youth. Young people are the foundation of nations’ future. They are partners today, but they will be leaders tomorrow. Young people are full of energy and excitement, and they are always eager to exploit and adapt to their changing surroundings. Young people will eventually fill positions such as pastors, governors, evangelists, legislators, choir leaders, women leaders and so on.

As a Christian child, you have important roles to play in your nation and church today. You are to avoid sin and all forms of corruption and to promote righteousness in a world where evil is increasing. You are to assist Christian adults in serving in various areas of the church. Use your abilities, talents, and energies to support God’s work on earth. God is counting on you to put an end to unrighteousness in your community. The church is fighting a spiritual battle rather than a physical one. You must join the adults in evangelistic outreaches and prayers in order to bring the devil and his agents to their knees. As you rise for God’s battle, the Lord will bless you.

Prayer for today: O Lord, make me a powerful weapon in the fight against evil in my society.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
