DCLM Higher Everyday 23 August 2024 — Water From The Rock
DCLM Higher Everyday 23 August 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Water From The Rock
Topic: Water From The Rock
Text: 1 Corinthians 10:1-4
1Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
Key Verse: “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ” (1 Corinthians 10:4).
Message
Water is very important for human survival. Agreeing with this universal truth, Audrey Hepburn said, “Water is life, and clean water means health.” Clean water is not only safe for drinking but does not harm those who come in contact with it and it is safe for all domestic use. The children of Israel drank pure water from the Rock during their wilderness journey to the Promise Land. That Rock symbolised Christ. Jesus Christ is the only one that can give you the water of life. He is the eternal well of living water.
Those who indulge in mere religious activities without submitting themselves to be cleansed with pure water from the Rock will remain dirty and defiled before God. Are you drinking pure water from the Rock of Ages or are you still drinking water from the ‘corrosive tap’ of this world? Remember, the water from Jesus represents the never-ending flow of God’s grace from the cross to humanity. Come to the foot of the cross of Christ and be drenched with the pure water that brings salvation, peace, healing and power.
Quote: Be drenched with pure water
Challenge: Jesus is the water of life.
Prayer for today: Father, give me this pure water, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
