TOPIC: When God Starts A Process (DCLM Daily Manna 9 March 2023)
KEY VERSE: “And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.” (Genesis 24:67).
TEXT: Genesis 24:61-67 (KJV)
61 And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.
62 And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country.
63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.
64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.
65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.
66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.
67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.
DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
Momentous events in the history of man are history orchestrated by God from seemingly small person-to-person meetings or group actions. In Bible narrative, the Lord brought Moses and Aaron together to start the liberation of Israel from hundreds of years of servitude in Egypt. History also records how the United States of America originated from a contingent of 102 settlers aboard the Mayflower that sailed from Plymouth, England, in 1620.

God was again deep in the picture when He arranged the meeting of Isaac and Rebekah in the middle part of Canaan, the Promised Land. It was an encounter that would be part of God’s plan to raise a family to bring blessings to the race of men through Isaac, the child of promise. Isaac came from the deep south while Rebekah sojourned from the far north. Distance and circumstances, which are barriers to man, do not stop the Lord from accomplishing His promises to man.
In our relationship with God, we must reckon more with His unlimited wisdom and power to work out what is incomprehensible and mysterious to us than with our self-will. In the choice of a lifetime spouse, career, business and associates, where to relocate our family and so on, we need to seek His priceless counsel for enduring success. It is not out of place to plan our marriages or businesses. But every stage of the plan must be ceded to God.
We incur heavy losses when we do not allow the Lord full control of the process He initiates to bless us. Abraham, Isaac and Rebekah did not hijack the marriage affair from God through subtle plans to hasten its outcome. So, the union had a salutary result that left “Isaac comforted after his mother’s death”.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
You may slow down, but not hasten God’s intervention by your impatience.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
