TOPIC: WHEN THINGS GO WRONG
TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 28:1-8
2And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
3Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
MEMORY VERSE: “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:” (DEUTERONOMY 28:1)
MESSAGE:
Sometimes, things happen to us or to others to cause us sorrow. We think they should not have happened if God had prevented them. This was the thought expressed by Hammed after watching a television series on the needless suffering and oppression of the Blacks in South Africa under the White minorities that ruled them. He questioned his Christian friend, “Why did God allow such suffering and injustice on Earth?” After the answer of Hammed’s friend, he came to realise that God was not to blame. We see from our Bible passage that God really designed life to be full of peace, harmony, abundance, increasing joy, health and prosperity.

These and more will happen if we hearken diligently to God’s word and do them. His word (The Bible) contains clear guidelines for peace, purity, power, safety and prosperous life. When things go wrong, just be sure that it was man that went wrong in managing life, not God. Recovery is sure if people and leaders go back and pay close attention to God’s word and do what it says. Peace and Progress come where leaders lead and the people live in righteousness.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord, help me to pay close attention to your word and obey it in every area of my life.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
