DCLM Sincere Milk 28 June 2025 — Why Worry?
DCLM Sincere Milk 28 June 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Why Worry?
Topic: Why Worry?
Text: Matthew 6:27-34
27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
KEY VERSE: “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6:34
Message
The word worry stands for:
W – Wasted
O – Opportunities of
R – Rest
R – Restoration and
Y – Youthfulness
Worry does not get your problems solved; so why worry? Worry does not change your situation; so why worry? Worry does not bring you closer to God; so why worry? When you allow worry in your life, you open the door for discouragement, murmuring, hopelessness, self-pity and even sickness. When you are worried, you can’t pray neither can you praise God. Worry crowds your heart and hinders you from growing. It blindfolds you from seeing better things that God has in store for you.

Instead of worrying whenever you are troubled, (i) Take time to read and meditate on God’s promises. (ii) Recount the goodness of God; don’t ever forget how He helped you in the past. (iii) Pray earnestly, casting all your cares on Him for He cares. (iv) Speak the words of faith and hold on to His never-failing promises. Remember, worry will only increase your burden, but prayers will remove the burden.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, guide me to know You more each day and discover my true purpose in life.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
