TOPIC: WONDERING AT CHRIST’S WORKS

TEXT: MARK 7:31-37

31And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.

32And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.

33And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;

34And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.

35And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.

36And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;

37And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

MEMORY VERSE: “And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak” (MARK 7:37).

MESSAGE:

The word “miracle” has been variously defined but the fact remains that every definition agrees that a miracle is an occurrence that is beyond human ability. Merrian Webster Dictionary simply describes it as, “An extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affair”.

A miracle is an incredible event that cannot be scientifically explained. It is a divine and supernatural wonder that is always attributed to the omnipotent God.

The Jews at the time of Jesus foolishly hardened their hearts against His teachings. One of the ways to convince them to believe on Him that He was the Messiah that God promised to give them salvation through, was the numerous miracles He performed among them. There in Decapolis, they brought a deaf and dumb man to Him. Instantly, Jesus healed him of his deafness and dumbness to their amazement.

The Lord Jesus is still doing marvelous works in the lives of people who pray in faith. However, His greatest work is the salvation of souls. Have you given your life to Him? Do it and you will wonder at the “so great salvation.”

QUOTE: His greatest work is the salvation of souls.

CHALLENGE: Have you given your life to Jesus?

PRAYER: Let people wonder at Your works in my life, O Lord.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
