DCLM Sincere Milk 16 August 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — You Don’t Have Enough Until
Topic: You Don’t Have Enough Until
Text: Luke 16:19-23
19There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Key Verse: “And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.” Luke 16:23
Message
Some children are satisfied with just having plenty of toys, beautiful dresses, shoes, intelligence and so on without having Jesus. They forgot that as good as these things are, they are only useful here on earth and do not have eternal value.
No matter what you have, you don’t have enough until you have Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and Lord. The rich man in our Bible passage had many things: riches, beautiful clothes, plenty food and servants, he however did not have the most important thing – Jesus. He had no time for God and righteousness. With all that he had, one would have thought he had it all and had enough. Unfortunately, he did not have enough because he did not have Jesus, he ended up in hell.

To have Jesus, you must genuinely turn away from all sins, believe in, and receive Him into your heart as your personal Saviour and Lord. Here comes the perfect opportunity for you to have Jesus if you haven’t. He is waiting to forgive you. If you have already repented, yield yourself completely to God and ask Him to give you more.

Prayer for today: Dear Father, please give me more of Your love, righteousness and grace.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
