DCLM Higher Everyday 24 November 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — You Have Gifts and Talents
Topic: You Have Gifts and Talents
Text: 2 Timothy 1:5-6
5When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
Key Verse: “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands” (2 Timothy 1:6).
Message
God has planted gifts and abilities within every one of us for the benefit of mankind. The Lord didn’t create just ordinary boys and girls. He created special, unique and talented youth in His image and likeness. To stir up the gift in you means to wake up from sleep, arouse and activate your mind and abilities. No matter how gifted you are, you have to work to bring the gifts to light with the help of God. Many youths allow procrastination, laziness, fear and doubt to hinder them from achieving their God-given dreams. Have you ever heard the statement, “What you fail to use, you lose”?

To activate your gifts and realise your dreams, you must be connected to the Creator by surrendering your life to Christ. You must also identify yourself with a living church where you will be mentored as Paul mentored Timothy to profitably utilize his gifts. You must be under leadership. What are your interests? Can you teach, handle electronics, sing or write? Explore all the opportunities the Christian fellowship provides to bring out your gift. You are specially created!
Quote: You are specially created
Challenge: God gives us talents to use.
Prayer for today: My God, help me to discover my gifts, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
