46. A christian home

  1. O give us homes built firm upon the saviour,

    Where christ is head and counsellor and guide;

    Where ev’ry child is taught his love and favour,

    And gives his heart to christ, the crucified:

    How sweet to know that tho’ his foot-steps waver,

    His faithful lord is walking by his side!

  2. O give us homes with godly fathers, mothers,

    Who always place their hope and trust in him;

    Whose tender patience turmoil never bothers

    Whose calm and courage trouble cannot dim;

    A home where each finds joy in serving others,

    And love still shines, tho’ days be dark and grim.

  3. O give us homes where christ is lord and master,

    The bible read, the precious hymns still sung;

    Where pray’r comes first in peace or in disaster;

    And praise is natural speech to evr’y tongue;

    Where mountains move before a faith that’s vaster;

    And christ sufficient is for old and young.

  4. O lord, our god, our homes are thine forever!

    We trust to thee their problems, toil, and care;

    Their bonds of love no enemy can sever

    If thou art always lord and master there:

    Be thou the centre of our least endeavour –

    Be thou our guest, our hearts and homes to share.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
