DCLM Sincere Milk 16 September 2023 — Faith That Overcomes
DCLM Sincere Milk 16 September 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Faith That Overcomes
Topic: Faith That Overcomes
Text: 1 John 5: 1- 5
2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
Key Verse: “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4
Message
The world we live in today is full of challenges that are difficult to overcome. Satan is making a lot of people do wicked things to fellow human being’s without caring how they feel. He has power over many of such people because he is the one controlling their lives. Even children are not left out by the devil; he uses them to destroy other people’s lives and properties if they follow his ways. The end of such is destruction if they do not repent and stop following Satan.
However, they cannot hurt you if you are a friend of Jesus who has faith in Him. Your faith will overcome all the works of the devil because you are not under his control. The Greater One (Jesus), lives in you. God is living in you and directing your ways. Keep your faith in Christ strong and you will always be an overcomer. Remember, “… whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

Prayer for today: Father, please, give me faith that overcomes in all situations.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
