Topic: The Fruit Of The Spirit – Part 2

Text: Galatians 5:25-26

25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Key Verse: “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25)

Message

The Christian life is one directed and controlled by the Spirit of God. It is not lived under the control and dictates of the flesh and the world. Upon giving our lives to Christ, we are expected to bear the fruit of the Spirit. It is not possible to bear this fruit in the unregenerate state (before we are born again). The fruit of the Spirit is a confirmation that indeed we have received Christ’s transforming grace. Christianity goes beyond our words and confessions. It must be lived in word and deeds. We must walk our talk.

The opposite of bearing the fruit of the Spirit is to manifest the works of the flesh. If envy, vain glory and other works of the flesh are prevailing in your life, you need to repent and accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Furthermore, you must daily consecrate and yield yourself to the Holy Spirit to enable you bear the fruit of the Spirit. God is ever faithful if we ask Him to give us the grace to possess the fruit of the Spirit.

Quote: Possess the fruit of Spirit

Challenge: Live the Christian life in word and in deed.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to daily bear the fruit of the Spirit.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
