DCLM Higher Everyday 29 February 2024 — Redeemed to Play your Role
Topic: Redeemed to Play your Role
Text: Romans 12:1-8
1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
3For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
4For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
6Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
8Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Key Verse: “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another”(Roman 12:4-5).
Message
God saved us to play specific roles in the body of Christ. Hence, Keith Provance stated that, “Who God calls, He equips. Who He equips, He anoints to do the job.” Today’s message is addressed to the members of a church. Apostle Paul exhorted them to ensure that they were not serving God in vain. Many believers offer unacceptable services to God because they veer off their own domain. Identify what you were created to fulfill.
A Christian is a team player; though he has his gifts and skills, he uses them in cooperation with the body of Christ in order to achieve common goals. He does not try to outshine any member. In order to effectively play your role in Christ’s Church, you must study His word, and seek the Holy Spirit’s empowerment. Be you a preacher, teacher, singer, an engineer, or a nurse, put the gifts at the disposal of the Holy Ghost. You can do better through Him. The Holy Spirit’s anointing made the illiterate apostles and evangelists like Peter, John and Philip to excel in ministry. You too can.

Challenge: Take steps that will distinguish you.
Prayer for today: Father, enable me to stir up my gifts, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
