DCLM Sincere Milk 1 May 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Covenant Promise
Topic: Expectation From God
Text: Proverbs 23:15-19
15 My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
16 Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.
17 Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
18 For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.
19 Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
Key Verse: “For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.” Proverbs 23:18
Message
When Larry’s dad was leaving home for work that morning, he promised to buy him a bicycle. Larry was so excited and wished the day would run fast. In school he kept looking at his wrist-watch to check the time. As the night began to draw near, he became more excited and was on the lookout to see his dad’s car. Lo and behold his dad arrived with the brand-new bicycle and his joy knew no bounds as he collected the gift and admired it.
The expectation of Larry was not cut short as his bicycle was bought. Our heavenly Father loves us so much and in His word He assures us that our expectations shall not be cut off. Are you expecting something from God in your life, family, academics and health? Trust God, have faith and depend on Him and your expectation shall not be cut off. Remember only friends of Jesus can expect blessings and favour from God. Repent today so that you can be a beneficiary of God’s blessings.

Prayer for today: May all my expectations be granted this day through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
