TOPIC: POSITIVE EFFECTS OF GIVING

TEXT: LUKE 6:31-38.

31And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

32For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

33And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

35But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

36Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

37Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

MEMORY VERSE: “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” (LUKE 6:38).

MESSAGE:

It was said of Calvin Coolidge, “No man was ever honored by what he received.” Honor has been the reward of what he gave.” In essence, as you give your time, energy, talents, and material or financial resources to God and humanity, so shall you get. Do it cheerfully and sacrificially as the needs arise. Giving can be costly! Yes, very costly sometimes.

Beloved, Jesus gave His life as a ransom for many and got it back in a glorified form and is alive forevermore. Have you given your life to Christ? Do you give to needy youth and others? Do you have the desire to invent something or provide services that will improve the lives of suffering humanity? You will be rewarded if you do. Many people’s names are in the Hall of Fame of their nations because of their writings, inventions, and other achievements. Also, ensure your name is in the Book of Life. Giving brings joy, good health, and lasting memory because you are only remembered by what you have done.

QUOTE: Ensure your name is in the Book of Life

CHALLENGE: What you give will come back to you in many ways.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord, in times like this, teach me to give generously.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
