DCLM Sincere Milk 11 May 2024 — The Living Water

DCLM Sincere Milk  11 May 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiThe Living Water

Topic: The Living Water

Text: John 4:7-10

7There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

8(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

9Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

Key Verse: “Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.” John 4:10

Message

Everyone has need of water to drink, bathe, wash clothes, clean the house/environment and do many other things. Water is so important that no day passes without us making use of it. It is used to quench our thirst and nothing can replace it. The Samaritan woman in our Bible passage went to the well known as, Jacob’s well, in Sychar to fetch water. She Jesus Who was on His usual preaching met assignment. The woman did not know Who Jesus was. So, when He requested water from her, she was reluctant to give Him. Jesus did not waste time, He quickly made Himself known to her as ‘the Living Water.’ He made the woman to know that He was the Messiah and the Water of Life which He gives is a well of Living Water springing into everlasting life.

Realizing Who Christ was, the woman left her water pot and ran into the city to announce that she had seen the Messiah. Her life was touched and transformed by Jesus. Have you met Jesus, the Living Water? Are you taking the Water of Life freely from Him? The Living Water cannot run dry, continue to drink from the well as you daily read and meditate on His word.

Prayer for today: Lord, create a thirst for the Living Water in me and fill my cup as I daily lift it up to You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
