TOPIC: POSSESSING YOUR POSSESSION

BIBLE TEXT: OBADIAH 1:17-21

17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

19 And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.

21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.

KEY VERSE: “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions” (Obadiah 1:17).

MESSAGE:

It is the duty of parents to provide for their children’s needs, and also leave an inheritance for them after they have passed on. Some parents do this while others do not. Those parents who do, want to ensure that their children do not have any reason to lack anything they need in their lifetime. Every child who is born again is a member of the family of God. He therefore has God as his Father. Just like your earthly parents take care of you, God who is the heavenly Father takes care of all His children. He has provided all the things they will ever need in this life and in the life to come.

In fact, the child of God is referred to as joint heir with Christ; that is, he will inherit the things that God has invested in him. God has unlimited riches of spiritual, physical and material blessings, and more laid up for all His children. But the child of God who do not know about these provisions, may suffer in want all through life.

As a child of God, you just have to know what God has in store for you and ask in faith to possess the inheritance God has laid up. You can do this through the prayer of faith from a clean heart.

PRAYER: Lord, I pray that You will bestow on me the riches and provisions laid up in store for my enjoyment.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
