DCLM Sincere Milk  11 June 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiA Look In The Mirror

Topic: A Look In The Mirror

Text: Genesis 6:6-13

6And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

7And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

9These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

10And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

12And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

13And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Key Verse: “And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.” Genesis 6:12

Message

To look according to English dictionary is to try to see or to pay attention with your eyes. Everyone on earth uses the eyes to see, except for the blind who cannot see as a result of defect in his sight. In our text today, we see that God looked on the earth and saw that everyone was corrupt, no good was seen in man because of wickedness and evil and God was not happy. But in the midst of all these, Noah found grace in the sight of God because he always spent time to examine himself through the mirror of God’s word.

Like Noah, the only way you can find grace in the sight of God is by taking a look at the mirror of God’s word. This, you can do by reading and studying God’s word and see how dirty and defiled you are, confessing your sins to Christ and promising never to go back to those sins anymore. Then read your Bible and pray every day, continue in constant fellowship with the children of God and wait in expectation for the rapture.

Prayer for today: Father, cleanse me from all known and hidden sins. Amen.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
