DCLM Higher Everyday 8 October 2024 — Actions Prove Our Faith

DCLM Higher Everyday 8 October 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiActions Prove Our Faith

Topic: Actions Prove Our Faith

Text: Hebrews 11:1-7

1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

2For by it the elders obtained a good report.

3Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

4By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

5By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

7By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Key Verse: “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh” (Hebrews 11:4).

Message

Faith is an important currency by which we may transact heavenly business. Through faith, spiritual things are made real to the soul. Abel, Enoch and Noah, received good testimonies from God and were declared righteous through faith. The righteous shall live by faith and without faith, it is impossible to please God. Faith makes the difference between those who are approved and those who are rejected by God. The things of God often cannot be explained by reason or logic. They are received and comprehended by faith.

What then is faith? Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Simply put, faith means seeing the invisible and accepting the incomprehensible. How do we show or prove that we have faith? It is through our works or actions. The Bible recognizes works of faith as evidence of true faith. If you truly believe, you must put your faith to work, take an uncertain step or a blind leap into the unknown, relying only on the promises of God. That is the faith that pleases God.

Quote: Put your faith to work

Challenge: Faith is a blind leap into the unknown.

Prayer for today: Lord, I believe what you say you will do.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
