DCLM Sincere Milk 14 October 2024 — The Promise Is True

DCLM Sincere Milk  14 October 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiThe Promise Is True

Topic: The Promise Is True

Text: Mark 9:20-27

20And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

21And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.

22And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.

23Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

24And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

25When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

26And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

27But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

Key Verse: “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” Mark 9:23

Message

If they will ask and believe, God’s promises to help His children when
they are in need remain true. When Joshua went to fight the enemies of God’s people, he needed God’s help. He needed more time to fight and finish the battle, so he commanded that the sun should continue to shine beyond the time it was meant to shine, such that the day was still bright when it should have been dark. (Joshua 10:12-14) God granted his request and helped him.

Today, we all need God’s help, just like Joshua. The secret of Apostle Paul’s success in life and ministry was God’s help. “Having thus obtained help from God, I continue unto this day,” he said in Acts 26:22. This also applied to Esther, John, Daniel, David, and many other people. Prayer of faith is one way to seek God’s assistance. To receive God’s assistance, you must pray every day and believe in God’s promises. Do not be like those children who spend hours on their phones, TV and other electronic devices but only have few minutes to pray. God is expecting you to Pray!!!

Prayer for today: Dear Father, please give me the spirit of prayer and help me to daily pray to You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
