DCLM Sincere Milk  19 October 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiThe Clay In God’s Hand

Topic: The Clay In God’s Hand

Text: Jeremiah 18:1-6

1The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

3Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.

4And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

5Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

6O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

Key Verse: “O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.” Jeremiah 18:6

Message

Have you ever gone on an excursion to a potter’s workshop before? How about a factory where pots and other vessels are being manufactured? The potter moulds vessels of different sizes and shapes. In the course of moulding. If any has a defect, the potter breaks it down and remoulds it.

God is the potter and we are the clay in His hands. He knows and determines what is best for us at every point in time. He knows your weaknesses: strengths and every secret thing no other person knows about you. Just like it is impossible for a pot to dictate what form it wants to take to its moulder, it is dangerous for anyone to try to instruct God on what to do with his or her life. Surrender your entire life to Jesus today and let Him lead you one day at a time. God is still at work in your life. He has not finished with you yet. He will fulfil all that He has promised concerning you.

Prayer for today: Lord please, perfect your will in my life.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
