DCLM Higher Everyday 16 November 2024 — Overcoming Difficulties
DCLM Higher Everyday 16 November 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Overcoming Difficulties
Topic: Overcoming Difficulties
Text: Psalm 35:14-18
14I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.
16With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
17Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.
18I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.
Key Verse: “The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace” (Proverbs 24:10).
Message
The life of a believer is not devoid of difficult times. Joseph experienced difficult times in his life, including imprisonment for no just reason. But because he trusted God, he stood firm without sinning and eventually God rewarded him by releasing him from prison to become a prime minister in Egypt. You may be experiencing a period of misfortune at the moment as a result of some negative circumstances around you. May be you have failed your examination or nobody is there when you need help. You may feel like the mountains are falling on you but remember, God will surely bring you out.

Difficulty comes in different ways, but the word of the Scripture assures us that, “The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” If you’re born again, there is no difficulty that can put your back on the ground. God has promised us victory and advancement. He fulfilled His promises to the children of Israel. He will also see you through your challenges.
Quote: God will surely bring you out
Challenge: Keep trusting the Lord.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to move on in spite of difficult times.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
