DCLM Sincere Milk 28 March 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Safety First
Topic: Safety First
Text: Proverbs 21:30-31
30There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
Key Verse: “The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.” Proverbs 21:31
Message
A set of children from a particular school went on an excursion to a fire service station in the city where they live. On arrival at the venue, the first inscription that greeted them was “SAFETY FIRST”. This tells them that the priority of the fire service is safety of the people, properties and the environment. Our key verse shows us how God is concerned about our safety. He has personally taken charge to keep us from all harms. Anywhere you find yourself, know that you are safe in the hands of the Lord. No evil can touch you, any arrow the enemy shoots at you will fail. However, you need to guard your ways and your steps so that the protection of God will continue to be upon you.

There are safety measures you can take to enjoy God’s protection. These include (i) Living a holy life and ensuring that you do not go back into sin no matter how the temptation is (ii) Develop the ability to stand firm on the word of God (iii) Guard your lips and be careful of what you say, you should be swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to wrath.

Prayer for today: Lord, give me the courage to guard my life and take safety measures so that I can enjoy your protection.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
