DCLM Sincere Milk  26 October 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God’s Unfailing Compassion

Topic: God’s Unfailing Compassion

Text: Lamentations  3:17-23

17And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.

18And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:

19Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.

20My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

21This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

22It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

23They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Key Verse: “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.” Lamentations 3:22

Message

A woman who did not believe in God fell sick and became paralyzed. She was taken from one hospital to another without receiving any cure. She became helpless and confused. One day, an evangelist came to town to hold crusade. Some members of this woman’s family heard about the crusade and decided to take the woman to the meeting. She was taken in to the hall of meeting on a stretcher and put at the back of the congregation. As the evangelist came up the podium, he announced that Jesus’ power is present to save, deliver and heal the sick. After delivering his powerful sermon, the man of God made an altar call for sinners who wanted to surrender their hearts to Christ. Having done that, he proceeded to pray for the sick.

Suddenly, the power of God struck the paralysed woman and she got up from the stretcher. She then walked straight to the podium, collected the microphone from the man of God and with tears in her eyes asked why God healed her despite the fact that she did not believe in Him. The man of God replied, “It is not by merit, it is of mercy.” This is what our Bible passage shows us. Through God’s mercies, we are not consumed, and His compassion never fails. Whatever you are going through in life, always remember that God’s mercies and compassion are available to help and save you. Trust Him and seek Him with all your heart.

Prayer for today: Thank You Lord, for Your love and compassion that keep me hopeful.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
