DCLM Higher Everyday 4 May 2025 — Supply The Needs Of The Saints

DCLM Higher Everyday 4 May 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Supply The Needs Of The Saints

Topic: Supply The Needs Of The Saints

Text: Romans 12:13-16

13Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

14Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

15Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

16Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Key Verse: “Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality” (Romans 12:13).

Message

A popularly quoted axiom states that, “Givers never lack.” This supports the words of our Lord Jesus Christ who said that,” It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35b). We should give to the needy people, especially those of the household of faith. Saints of old practised this principle. God did not only command it in the Bible but also provided the greatest example, by giving us His only begotten Son for the redemption of lost humanity. Giving brings gain in physical, financial and spiritual blessings. Meeting saints’ needs remains part of godliness. The Scripture says, “Give and it shall be given unto you.” Supplying believers’ needs in times of war, bereavement, sickness, or extreme poverty is biblical.

The gospel has reached all nations today because men and women, and even youngsters, gave financially and materially for mission work. When the need arises, don’t hesitate to distribute “to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality” (Romans 12:13). However, give yourself first to God, and your sacrificial giving will be honoured by Him.

Quote: Giving brings gain

Challenge: Give generously and God will adequately reward you.

Prayer for today: Jehovah Jireh, help me to meet believers’ needs, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
