DCLM Sincere Milk 6 November 2022 — The tea bag

DCLM Sincere Milk 6 November 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The tea bag

TOPIC: THE TEA BAG

TEXT: 1 PETER 4:8-11

8And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

9Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

10As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Key Verse: “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10).

MESSAGE:

The tea bag is loaded with goodness from nature. It contains a substance known as flavonoids that help regulate cellular activities, fight off free radicals and harmful substances. Flavonoids are also powerful antioxidants. There are lots of health benefits we can derive from a tea bag, but until this tea bag gets into hot water and brews out its contents, all those benefits remain unused with the tea bag.

A Christian child is like a tea bag, full of grace and gifts from our heavenly Father. These gifts do not have value except we use them to profit other members of the body of Christ. A story was told of a woman who was always bringing bags of sachet water to the church on fellowship days for thirsty brethren to drink. Unfortunately, this woman died unexpectedly.

It was several weeks after her death that the church got to know that she was that precious vessel God had been using to quench the thirst of people. The environment could feel her impact, and thus, there was a vacuum when she was no more.

The colourless hot water does not remain the same when the tea bag gets in there. Spread the flavour of love in your fellowship and community, and make an impact in every life that comes your way.

Prayer: Dear Father, make me a blessing to those that come my way.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
