Topic: Exam Success 3: Cover The Syllabus

Text —Proverbs 13:1-4

1A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

2A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.

3He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

4The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

Key Verse: “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat” (Proverbs 13:4).

Message

Harry Truman stated that, “Not all readers are leaders but all leaders are readers.” No wonder God told Habakkuk to “write the vision…that he may run that readeth it.” So, reading God’s words and other materials relevant to our purpose grant us speed for promotion. While others are crawling, the man who reads, runs! He gets to the top happily. The significance of studying properly and acting wisely remains the primary focus of worthwhile education.

A syllabus is a summary of all the topics which will be covered during a course. A student who wants to excel would work towards covering the syllabus in every subject under study in that particular academic term or semester and to achieve this, painstaking studies should commence before or at the beginning when the workload has not piled up. Christian students are to shun procrastination while trying to cover their syllabus as procrastination is the grave in which academic success opportunities are buried. If there is no laziness, we would progress and excel in every examination.

Quote: The man who reads, runs!

Challenge: To excel, work towards personally covering your syllabus.

Prayer for today: Dear Lord, keep me from procrastination in my studies.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
