Topic: Bible Animal – Calf
Text: Leviticus 9:1-5
1And it came to pass on the eighth day, that Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel;
3And unto the children of Israel thou shalt speak, saying, Take ye a kid of the goats for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb, both of the first year, without blemish, for a burnt offering;
4Also a bullock and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before the LORD; and a meat offering mingled with oil: for to day the LORD will appear unto you.
5And they brought that which Moses commanded before the tabernacle of the congregation: and all the congregation drew near and stood before the LORD.
Key Verse: “And he said unto Aaron, Take thee a young calf for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, without blemish, and offer them before the LORD.” Leviticus 9:2
Message
The Bible is filled with references to animals, these remind us of God’s creativity, power, and the lessons we can learn from His creation. Animals are part of God’s creation and serve a purpose in His divine plan for man. The calf is a young cow or bull. When they grow, they provide meat, milk and butter for us. Their skin is also good raw material for leather. It is a very expensive material for making shoes, bags and a lot of household items.

The calf holds symbolic meaning in the Bible, representing various subjects such as sacrifice and abundance. In the Old Testament, the Israelites often offered calves as sacrifices to God, signifying their devotion and obedience to Him. It symbolizes celebration and abundance, as seen in the parable of the prodigal son where the father killed a calf for feast to welcome his lost son back home. This parable teaches us about God’s unconditional love, forgiveness, and the joy that comes from repentance.
The calf in the Bible carries both positive and negative meanings, reminding us of the importance of true worship, avoiding idolatry, and experiencing the abundant blessings of God’s grace.

Prayer for today: Lord, I thank You for all that You have made.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
