Topic: Shaped After His Image

Text: Genesis 1:26-28

26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Key Verse: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Genesis 1:27

Message

A child of 2 years was running around in the church premises when suddenly he discovered that his image was following him everywhere. Excited about it, he started turning round to ensure that he caught the image thinking it was someone that was following him but he was unable to do so.

This story is the exact example of being shaped after your image. Your image is a reflection of you and goes with you everywhere. According to our Bible passage, God created man in His image and after His likeness. This means we resemble God even though we have not seen Him physically.

Therefore, since we are created after the image of God, you must be like Him, you must love what He loves, and hate what He hates. God is pure and sin cannot be found in Him. You must also be pure like your heavenly Father. If you are still sinning, the image of God is not in you and so you are exposed to the image of the devil. Make up your mind to be a reflection of the image of God.

Prayer for today: Lord, shape me after Your own image.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
