DCLM Daily Manna 4 January 2026 — Resting on His Promises

DCLM Daily Manna 4 January 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Resting on His Promises

TOPIC: Resting on His Promises (DCLM Daily Manna 4 January 2026)

KEY VERSE: And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform – Romans 4:21

TEXT: Romans 4:17-21 (KJV)

17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:

20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Today, we know Honda as a leading global brand in the mobility and power sectors. However, many people don’t realise that the company’s founder, Soichiro Honda, was raised inpoverty, but his mother often reminded him, “You were born for something great.” He held on to his mother’s words even in the face of repeated disappointments. For instance, his first factory was destroyed during World War II, and an earthquake claimed another. That promise from his mother fuelled his determination and served as an anchor for him.

If Soichiro Honda’s mum’s assuring words could have such a profound impact that inspired him to succeed, how much more should we rest on the unfailing promises of the Almighty God. Abraham demonstrated such pure faith. God promised to make him the father of many nations, with a grand posterity. But he and his wife had passed the child-bearing age – Abraham was 100 years old, and Sarah was 90. Against all odds, Abraham believed the promise. He was convinced about the credibility and credentials of the Promisor, “even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”

Abraham’s reliance on the promise of God paid off. They had a son (Isaac) at such an old age when their bodies were as good as dead. Observe some things about Abraham’s faith: “Against hope, (he) believed in hope” – there was no natural basis for his hope; “…he considered not his own body now dead… neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb” – he looked away from the challenges; “staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief” – he was resolute in his faith; through his strong faith, he glorified God; He was “fully persuaded “that, what (God) had promised, he was able also to perform” – he firmly trusted in God’s omnipotence. God fulfilled His promise to him and counted his faith for righteousness.

As you navigate the New Year, anchor your faith on God’s promises in specific areas of your life and endeavours. Do not get fixated on the challenges and impossibilities confronting you; rest your faith in God’s power, faithfulness, and goodwill; and, like Abraham, you will have results that surpass your expectations.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
