DCLM Sincere Milk19 February 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Joy In Crisis
Topic: Joy In Crisis
Text — 1 Peter 4: 12-14
12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
14If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
Key Verse: “If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.” 1 Peter 4:14
Mirabel just surrendered her life to Christ after hearing the word of God from a preacher on radio one faithful Saturday morning. The Joy of the Lord filled her heart and all that saw her from that day knew that a great transformation had taken place in her life. But that was not all, after some weeks she began to face persecution from her immediate younger brother who vowed to make life miserable for her.

In the morning while having her quiet time, she came across the book of 1 Peter 4:14 which says: “If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.” After reading this passage she was encouraged and immediately, the joy of the Lord filled her heart. That joy was greater than the persecution of her brother as she had learnt to always rejoice in any situation.
Whatever situation you find yourself in, let there be joy in your heart as all things work together for good to them that love the Lord.

Prayer for today: May the joy of the Lord always fill my heart and give me peace in times of trouble.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
